Advantages of a Custom Home During an Extremely WET Indiana Summer
Written by: Penny Siml on Tuesday, July 21, 2015
Not sure whether to start this post off with "hello" or "ahoy"! The weather in Indianapolis has been extremely wet. Soggy picnics, standing water,
and indoor activity time has been the norm this summer. Eventually the weather will break and we'll enjoy boating on Geist, playing a round at the
Bridgewater Club, or enjoying a relaxing bike ride in Hamilton Proper. But for now, we have to relocate summer activities to the indoors. It got us
thinking about some of the fun features we can design into our custom homes. Here are a few great (sometimes luxurious) ways to combat the Indiana
monsoons in your next custom home or custom remodel:
1. Indoor Basketball Courts
When it's raining, it's tough to get the exercise you need. Indoor basketball courts are less extravagant than you think and they provide a great way to
mix in some fairly intense family games of h.o.r.s.e. With skylights and surrounding windows, you can get a sense of being outdoors even in the worst
climates. With the ability to customize the floor with custom designs from Carrington Homes, it's a unique way to enjoy the indoors year round.
2. Fitness Center
Even if you have a gym membership, it's tough to get there when the weather is miserable. Many of the custom homes we build have fitness centers in the
basement. With the compact design of today's gym equipment and multi-use options, you won't need to miss a workout.
3. Mood Lighting
Lighting has a huge impact on your psyche. Gray clouds can take their toll on you emotionally. Many lighting manufacturers have "mood lighting systems"
to provide light engineered to influence your mood.
4. Indoor Water Features
The sound of rain can be relaxing but getting caught outside in it - not so much. However, Carrington Homes can integrate a luxurious indoor water
feature can allow you to enjoy the relaxing sound and beautiful look of water without getting wet.
