An understanding of clients and quality craftsmanship keep Carrington Homes at the forefront of the custom homebuilding industry.
There is a feeling of being understood that comes from living in a home designed around your unique habits, hobbies, and gatherings. It’s a feeling that Carl McIntyre and the team at Carrington Homes curate for clients looking for a place that is undeniably their own.
“Custom homebuilding has grown over the years, so we embrace the latest in building science and home technology to stay at the top of the industry,” says McIntyre, president of the Indianapolis firm that he established with his parents in 1992. “We create personalized plans unique to the client’s vision of a dream home.”

While the possibilities for customization multiply as new home technology makes the building process more seamless and personal, Carrington Homes’ emphasis on transparent client communication has remained at its core. New clients work through a detailed questionnaire that is designed to transform their visions from vague ideas into exciting solutions that fit their lifestyle.
“Clients turn to us for a fully custom built home in which they can live exactly how they want,” says McIntyre. “We build small and large homes, modern and traditional. There are no standards. We show them what’s available and explain pricing to find the best options within their budget.”

Bringing Coastal Modern to Indiana
Never one to stick to standards, Carrington Homes’ recent project in Westfield showcases the firm’s ability to blend styles and materials. No ideas are too big, so when the client requested an indoor basketball court, McIntyre found a way to make it work within the space.
“The indoor court not only adds a space for sports, but it also functions as a large multipurpose room that can be filled with tables and chairs for family events such as weddings, reunions, and graduations,” he explains.
The outdoor living area is influenced by McIntyre’s Florida vacations and fosters an appreciation of modern coastal design and indoor-outdoor living.
“People want a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces,” explains McIntyre. “We wanted the patio to be used year round, so the porch is outfitted with heaters to keep the space comfortable in 40-degree weather, and a folding door between the kitchen and outdoor living space can be opened over 12 feet to flow freely from indoors to out.”

The result is a custom home in which clean-lined, modern architecture is warmed by natural tones in the hardwood flooring, smooth white oak cabinets, and tan quartz countertops.
It’s a space that not only captures the client, but respects their budget, restraints, and changed ideas throughout the process.
“When we’re done with a project, I want clients to feel they got everything they wanted at a fair price from a team dedicated to their ideas every step of the way,” McIntyre concludes.
